At Honest Mobile we think phones are awesome. They let us connect with our loved ones and share experiences even when we’re not in the same room.
But it’s also important to be aware that your phone can have a negative impact on your mental health – often without you realising. Studies show that excessive use of social media can fuel anxiety, depression, and loneliness.
Because we use them so much every day, it’s important we try to maintain a healthy relationship with our phone. If you’re feeling lonely, try and use your phone proactively to connect with someone – pick up the phone and give someone a ring or send someone a message rather than scrolling through social media.
This week is Loneliness Awareness Week. Hosted by Marmalade Trust, it’s a week that focuses on raising awareness of loneliness and gets people talking about it. Loneliness itself isn’t a mental health problem – but if you’re feeling lonely it can sometimes start to affect your mental health.
